Flat circular box with base and lid. Bone exterior with carved images: lid has top and side views of human cranium and French inscription reading, "Craniology of Dr. Gall"; base has French inscription reading, "Systems of Brain Water Organs of Dr. Gall" with a list of twenty-seven systems. Mottled red and black bakerlite interior shell. Possibly held a medal to commemorate Dr. Franz Gall.

This item was originally donated to the Medical Society of Victoria (which later became part of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Medical Association). The A.M.A. donated its historical collection of documents and artifacts to the University of Melbourne's Medical History Museum in 1994.
