Brief Description O'Dwyer's Intubation set which consists of tubes, obturators and introducer with gauge plate, and fitted rack in metal case. History of Object "INTUBATION FOR LARYNGEAL DIPHTHERIA: 1890 Jefferys Wood learnt intubation in New York from O'Dwyer, purchased his tubes (shown below), practiced intubation in London (?first); 1891 Wood introduced intubation to Australia at the Children's Hospital, Melbourne. Five out of the first nine cases survived (previous mortality approx. 100%). He later taught Frank Scholes of Fairfield Hospital, who perfected the technique (see obituary: A.J. Wood, Med. J.
