The University of Melbourne Department of Ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital was established in 1963 with Gerard Crock the first Professor. It was the first autonomous department within the University's Faculty of Medicine and the first ophthalmic academic department in Australia. |
