The University of Melbourne has three clinical departments of surgery which provide training and research facilities to University of Melbourne medical undergraduate and postgraduate students.

They are;
- the Department of Surgery at the Royal Melbourne and Western Hospitals
- the Department of Surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital and Geelong Hospital
- the Department of Surgery at the Austin and Repatriation Medical Centre.
